Module: 5 Control

These are the questions for this chapter

Q1: How Many Different things did you count? What were they? In what ways might computers be used to control different things in the supermarket?

A: I counted 6 things that are controlled by computers:  microwave, Satellite navigation system , Credit Card, Car Park Barrier, parking sensors and finally robots to make cars. Computers in the supermarket can control cashier, CCTV Cameras, Stock records, Scanners and anti theft device.

Q2:Why is it useful to use computers rather than people to control things? What Problems might there be if any of the computer system fail in the supermarket?

A: Its useful for computers to control for things for us because it saves labor costs. Its financially better. Its more accurate to do things than us. It can keep a big memory and give a good analysis. It has no geographic limitations and the computers can be linked up. If the computer systems fail, we have to work harder, we have to do many things manually. This means huge rise in labor costs.

Q3: Describe the input and outputs for the other devices that we have talked about so far. How do the supermarket doors and car park barriers know how to open ? Identify other control systems that work automatically this way.

A:  First the Supermarket Door system starts then it will carry out instructions what to do and then follows instructions and stops after this. Car park barriers know when to open when you press the button and on the way out you put a ticket to a slot that lets it open. Supermarket doors know when to open with a sensor, when something or someone obstructs the area of the sensor, it opens. Soap Dispenser, Automatic water taps, Coffee stations and Rice Cooker work automatically this way.

Q4: What would happen if the instructions were wrong? These instructions assume that the car is in the right place. What would happen if the car were not there? How would they stop this from happening?

A: If the instructions were wrong, the production will halt, many wind screens would be broken and that means Mike might be fired from the company. If the car isn't there, like I said many wind screens would be broken.
They could stop this from happening by putting a sensor.

Please leave a comment classmates :)

A Fresh Drink Survey

I did my Own Survey about Fresh Fruit Juice. I have 4/5 students and they liked fresh fruit juice but i'm not sure whatprice they would've liked so I'll investigate for more

H.W 2.2 Does The Lochness Monster real?

Does Neisse Exist?

Well, I think is unsolved.

According to Nessieland (http://www.loch-ness-monster-nessieland.com/), it is awaiting evidence of the Neisse. It has lots of information that they heard the local people spotted the tail or the body of the monster. They used a special device to track the Neisse’s breathing. It was called the Hydrophone system.  They also used sonar devices. Nothing was found. But you can’t really prove something doesn’t exist. They still believe it exists.

However, scientists claim that it doesn’t exist because BBC sent teams down the lake and searched for it and guess what? Nothing.   (news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3096839.stm)  BBC researched the lake for their species. They searched coast by coast but nothing was found and saw no sign of the monster.

Discovery Channel (dsc.discovery.com/news/afp/20030728/nessie/.htlm) was also involved with the investigation and helped BBC to track down the Neisse and the same thing happened, nothing was found. They went to the bottom of the lake and still nothing was found. There was a large reading on the sonar but it wasn’t.

MY OPINION: I believe it is not true because they did an excellent search in the lake and those two parties are one of the largest media in the world. Their news is trustworthy and it makes sense. Until a skeleton or body is found, we have no evidence that Loch Ness really exist.

Note: The Nessie Website Changed, so i don't know where the real infromation is.

Case Study 4, Data Handling

1)     How could Mussie and Elli find out whether older people do more for charity than younger people?
They can do street interview, chat online system (e.g. Facebook), asking teacher and classmates at school, interview old age home, etc.

2)     Why does Mussie think that these data prove him? Why might Ellie think that these data do not him right?
For Ellie answer is that the information might be not true.
For Mussie answer is that the data has shown him the acceptable answer.

3)     What question should they ask?
·        Who are you?
·        How often do you donate money to the charity?
·        What types of charity do you donate to?
·        How much money do you donate to the charity usually?
·        Do you do charity work?
If yes: How long do you spend time doing in charity events?

4)     How many questionnaires should they hand out? Who do you think should fill in their questionnaire?
I think they should hand out 45 copies first, and if it went out within the first 3 to 4 days. I think the next time they reprint should be 53 copies. Also this questionnaires are every one (but not for the babies, because they will not understand a word if he/she receive the question sheet).

Q5: Which Software could Mussie and Ellie use to put answers into the computer? How can they check that the data are correct? How could they reduce the number of errors in the data? What problems might be if the data if typed incorrectly?

Answer: They could use Excel to put the answers in. They'll check the data before putting it onto the spreadsheet. They restrict the computer to themselves because if the data was typed incorrectly, they might go into the wrong conclusion.

Q6: What is the
best way
for Ellie and Mussie to present the results?

Answer: They can use a Pie Chart to show their results in percentage

Module 3 Modelling

Q1: What might be the differences between a computer system set up for gaming computer system to one set up for a business to use? Think about the hardware that might be needed.

A1: Business people need to create and print a lot of documents, so they need big storage drives to store files and needs a good internet connection to do email. They also need mircosoft programs to do multiple things.
For gamers, they need highly developed graphics card, a high speed modem, a modern tower, a speaker and a big flat screen. They need a high speed internet connection to play online games.

Q2:Earl has got GBP800 to spend. How can Shateen work out if he has got enough money? What if he hasn't got enough? What methods could Shaheen use to help her work out the prices of these different options?

A2: Shaheen can use a spreadsheet model and use a formula to help her add up the compelete cost and then compare with the amount that Earl has got. She uses a cell where she can type in how much  the customer has got to spend and adds another formula to work out whether the customer has enough money.

Q3: What does Shaheen need to do to this spreadsheet model so that it is ready to use?

A3: She needs to add a title and some text labels and formats the spreadsheet to make it clear and easy to use. She replace the expensive models with cheaper models to fit the customer's budget.

Q4: How can Shaheen use the spreadsheet model to help her with the new customer? What changes might she need to make to her spreadsheet model?

A4: She can type in different hardware models and their prices and work out the total for the new customer. She needs to include a printer. But she may leave the speaker out.

Q5: How else could Shaheen present  this information to make it easier to read?

A5: She can make a graph to make the infromation easier to read

Introduction

My name is Christopher, call me chris for short.

I hope to learn some good searching skills and using some things on the computer which i don't know yet.
This year is going to be great and sometimes diffucult. Look out for other posts.
